Hi, I'm Stephanie Jegen!

Founder, Restore and Build Fitness, LLC

I'm a National Academy of Sports Medicine Certified Personal Trainer (NASM-CPT), Certified Nutrition Coach (NASM-CNC), and Licensed Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) with 10+ years of experience. I'm also a mom of 3! Which paved the way for my Powerline Pitching softball offering through Restore and Build Fitness.

I have a PASSION for teaching fellow moms about what happens to our core during pregnancy and childbirth as well as how to improve issues that arise postpartum. My three pregnancies, including two cesarean sections, left my core dysfunctional and it took time and focus to improve that. 

 

I want your journey to core correction and postpartum wellness to be one of encouragement, support, and attainable goals. 

MY APPROACH

I believe everyone can benefit from a custom workout plan tailored to their fitness level, goals, and available equipment. I take a holistic approach to fitness. A customized plan that goes at the pace you need for the season of life you're in. It won't happen overnight. But sticking to your plan, choosing it every day, and having expert guidance along the way, it will happen. Gradual change is lasting change. No 30-day fixes, magic pills, or "winging it" here! But you're not alone. I am here with you the entire way!

I know firsthand the challenges that come with restoring your core, nutrition, and wellness postpartum. For me, the key to that restoration was through reclaiming my core after my third (pictured).

You can see how high I was carrying and afterward that my stomach was still protruding forward with my lower back arched. My core was very weak and my abdominals were split. Some of that will improve naturally with time, but for many moms, if we are not intentional about returning it to a functional state - it will not improve and could definitely get worse. The deepest part of your abdominals (your transverse abdominis) are the most stretched after pregnancy and they will allow other muscles to compensate, and your diastasis recti (your split) will get worse with planks and daily activities.

General FAQ

Can I bring kids/babies to a session?

Sessions are long and require conversation and quiet concentration to engage your musculature correctly. For these reasons I request that children NOT be brought to sessions unless you have emailed or spoken to me about this ahead of time. 

Can the Core Correction for Moms program give me a flat stomach?

My program can NOT spot-reduce fat (adipose) tissue. No exercise program can do that. We can help shift the resting alignment of your abdomen by strengthening the transverse abdominis muscle which acts as an internal corset. Nutrition changes skin and adipose layers over the musculature. This course does not address nutrition, only the musculoskeletal system.

Can you always tell if there is a split?

Sometimes adipose (fat) tissue disbursement over an abdomen is present in such a way that finding a diastasis recti can be tricky and potentially impossible if the tissue quantity is too great. There are ways for trainer and client to work together to assess movement and perceived function if the client is in-tune with her body.

Can I do this program if my baby is 20 years old?😏  

Absolutely! Postpartum is forever and it's never too late to focus on correcting your core.

How does the online Nutrition 101, Habit and Macros program work?

This program is meant for women who want the same benefits as the in-person program I have, but with more emphasis on habit building. You'll be given education on nutrition tailored to women. You'll build healthy habits and learn plate building. This program runs 10 weeks with options to continue with more in-depth topics after that. 

Do you give meal plans?

No. Meal plans are restrictive and most times we don't know why we're eating what we're eating. They also don't allow for necessary flexibility of weekends, vacations, long work days, seasonal foods, driving kids around for hours, picky eaters, etc.. 

How much weight will I lose on your program?

Let's change the question to: what will my long-term success be? I don't teach calorie restriction. Calorie restriction works in the short term to lose weight, but in-turn lowers your metabolism and eventually the weight jumps right back on as either 1) you go back to higher calories because lower calories isn't sustainable or 2) your metabolism has tanked.

If you would normally expect a certain result in 30 days, change your mindset to 90 days. The faster you lose weight, the more likely your body will want to gain it all back.

Are these in-person sessions?

No! Everything is done at your pace, when you want, virtually. You'll start on the app and do your physical assessment with video recording, and then you'll fill in questionnaires to help me get to know you better.

What's the cost?

  • $75 gets you started with virtual assessments - $50 in-person assessments to those who qualify

  • After the initial assessment, $125 will be billed every 12 weeks. New workouts kickoff at the start of a new billing cycle. 

How long does the program last?

We work in 12 week blocks that will autorenew with new workouts each cycle until you cancel.

What Pitching Technique Do you Teach and Why?

I teach 'whip' or 'internal rotation' compared to 'hello elbow.' I have a background in physical therapy and personal training and I believe internal rotation to be healthier for your rotator cuff and biceps over time. Not sure which style your pitcher pitches? Do YOu Offer Group Lessons?

Yes! Typically individual lessons are booked through the app, but for team group lessons, email me at stephanie@restoreandbuildfitness.com and we can coordinate dates/times.

What is Your Cancellation Policy?

Lessons can be rescheduled up to 24 hours in advance. There are no refunds inside 24 hours unless the weather dictates that we cancel. This is subject to Coach Steph's discretion. 

Do You Offer Bundle Discounts?

Once you have the Upperhand app, you can add discount packages under "Credit Passes", allowing you to unlock savings with more lessons!

What To Bring to Each Lesson?

Please bring your own glove, fielding facemask, and cleats. I have the rest. No catcher needed unless you prefer one then it's bring your own catcher. No catcher, no problem! We will pitch into a net,

How long have you been doing this?

I worked as a Physical Therapist's Assistant from 2008 to 2013 at an outpatient clinic. Then I worked in rehabilitation attached to a senior living community from 2015 to 2021. I've been doing these Core Correction for Moms classes for my close acquaintances since 2017. My family started our nutrition journey in 2010. I obtained CPT and CNC certificates in 2021. I launched Powerline Pitching Softball Lessons for girls and teams in 2023.
